Archer is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with its car casting, and this week's episode !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . However, the scene above had a little error that bothered me. If it were almost any other small Japanese car, it wouldn't be so glaring, but a large part of the AE86's popularity and reputation is due to its rear-wheel drive layout.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
EDIT: No, I don't think that it's an Accord hatch, or some other FWD Japanese car. Here it is seconds earlier:
It's an AE86, ( begin mild spoiler alert ) driven by the Yakuza. The Yakuza return to the series after their original appearance in Season 3's episode "Drift Problem", where Pam competed in drifting events against them. The Yakuza only drove Japanese drift cars, including several AE86s:
(end spoilers)
And no, I'm not taking this minor flub seriously. Archer is still awesome.
It doesn't come close to the kinds of gearhead-irking errors that many movies and TV shows often make, however. Why does every dirt bike sound like a two-stroke, every sportbike sound like an inline-four, and why is every column-shifted automatic car driven while in the "Park" position?

In the latest How I met your mother episode the mother entered a Crown Vic cab. After the close up they showed a Caprice cab driving around New York with what should be her inside. The next shot was her exiting the Crown Vic again.

There was a scene in American Hustle where the main characters walked into the laundromat, and you can clearly see a '90s Navistar International medium duty truck in the reflection off the glass in the door.
I always look for automotive continuity in movies because it's often something they get horribly wrong.

I disagree with FWD inherently being better in snow. It's *typically* better because *typically* cars are nose-heavy making for less traction with the rear tires and the driving dynamics of FWD fit better with the reactions of untrained drivers.

That movie is so freaking stupid. The fastest car (by a long shot) just so happens to get beaten by a car that's not even close to being equal in performance.
Then you have the wildly infuriatingly idiotic actors calling the RX7 a "MX6" or "MX5". It's neither! Stahp! Now!!!!
Then there's the fact that nobody even gets their car facts straight...and the villain somehow dies by parking his car on the side of the road? Dafuq?

Have you noticed almost every driving scene on TV where they're driving along on a straight road, the steering wheel is upside down like it's turning hard? It's quite clever because it creates the illusion that the car is actually being towed on a low trailer...

The basic Corollas of that vintage were on a different chassis, and it was indeed FWD. The fact that the Corolla name was also used at the same time for a RWD car on a different chassis (AE85/AE86) is a large reason why they're referred to by their code name as opposed to simply "Corolla".

That did bug the shit out of me. I can understand being car illeterate, whatever, but you could have asked any 5-year old boy if that car was around in 1985. Someone on the set had to know, but someone higher up, likely the director thought, "Come on, no one will notice, it just looks like some fast car." I even would have understood if the poster was off to the side, or only in the scene for a second, but it was a long fucking scene, and that poster was right behind him the whole time.
